Madison City Hall Restoration and Rehabilitation
Jury Comments
“This project is an excellent example of historic restoration and adaptive reuse of an historic school building. The jury was impressed with the level of care taken to restore the original auditorium, including recreating the stage and proscenium. The design team’s attention to detail is evidenced by the careful rehabilitation of the interior historic fabric, differentiation of new materials, and use of period- appropriate fixtures and colors. The restoration of the interior stairwell with the extension of the existing balusters and new handrail were especially well-executed. For design excellence in restoration and sensitive adaptive reuse, the jury is pleased to present the Madison City Hall with a Merit Award for Renovation/ Restoration.”
